October 6. What I’m thankful for.
These are cucumbers from my garden. Probably the last I’ll pick. The plant is pretty much dead, there’s still flowers on it but now that the weather’s cooled it’s too cold to make any more fruit. It’s done for the season.
I’m using cucumbers to represent what I’m thankful for. There’s so many things to be thankful for, but one thing I’m thankful for every single day is my health. After being around very sick people at work all week, and working with very sick birds on the weekends, I realize just how fragile health is, and how easily illness can strike. And after being around illness most of my working hours, I am thankful that I can step outside and go for a run, and go home and pick fresh cucumbers from my garden for dinner.
