Day 97 photo- Portland’s bike culture

The Hawthorne Bridge is probably the most popular designated bike path to cross the river. The center lanes are for cars, the outside lanes are wide and designated for foot traffic and bike traffic.  During rush hour the bridge is packed with bike commuters in both directions.

After crossing the bridge bikes can go straight down Hawthorne Blvd, or circle underneath the bridge to get on the East Bank Esplanade, a great foot- and bike- path that runs along the river, and will get you to where you need to go.
