Day 95 photo- Portland’s bike culture

One defining character about Portland, Oregon is its strong bike culture. I think it’s one of the most awesome things about living here.

Portland was the long-standing “best bicycle city” in the United States forever, until we were dethroned a few years ago.  We really couldn’t believe it.  We take pride in our bike-ability, bike-friendly, weird-bike-event city we call home.

This week’s photo theme is going to be about Portland’s bike culture.  I’ll remind myself to re-visit this theme several times throughout the year, since there are different bike events at different times of the year. For sure I’ll capture Pedapalooza.  Right now it’s Bike to Work month. You can get free breakfast on your commute in to work!

Today’s picture is below.  It’s the free bicycle valet parking at my work.  Hundreds of bikers hand their bike off where it is kept secure and monitored while you work. Sweet deal!

And some common “bumper stickers” you see on bikes around here…
